CAAMFest 2014

LOOKING BACK AT CAAMFEST 2014

Over the course of 11 days, CAAMFest 2014 welcomed over 26,000 festival attendees and over 120 films from 19 countries. Launching with an unforgettable Opening Night at the Castro Theatre and Asian Art Museum and closing with a full day of sold out screenings at our newest venue, The New Parkway Theater in Oakland, CAAM cannot be more proud of the success of this year’s festival.

Bringing style and comedy to CAAMFest 2014, the Opening Night Presentation of HOW TO FIGHT IN SIX INCH HEELS was a glamorous segue into our Gala Reception at the Asian Art Museum. A special year full of firsts, 2014 saw two Centerpiece films, two Directions in Sound Showcases and the move to a new venue in Oakland. AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY: THE EVOLUTION OF GRACE LEE BOGGS and COLD EYES brought the spirit of reform and revolution as well as thrilling edge-of-your-seat suspense to the historic Castro Theatre. Directions in Sound highlighted emerging Asian and Asian American musical artists infusing a little Korean Rock and Electro as well as local Hip Hop and Indie Rock to the CAAMFest stage. The last weekend kicked off with the SuperAwesome Salon, a collaboration with the Oakland Museum of California, bringing out over 4,000 guests to the film, music, food, and art-filled event. Closing out the festival was the sold out screening of DELANO MANONGS and a reception at Vessel Gallery, a poignant celebration to end CAAMFest 2014. Thanks to all who made this year’s festival such a great success. We cannot wait to see you all at CAAMFest San Jose!
