Navigating Participant Care & Impact
- 75 mins
In partnership with A-Doc
A-Doc Conversations is launching its 2025 series with an in-person panel “Navigating Participant Care & Impact” at CAAMFest on May 9. Many of the stories we tell deal with the physical and emotional trauma of our own communities, and we acknowledge it is no small ask to feature someone in a documentary. As the conversation continues about the benefits and consequences for documentary participants, filmmakers have a responsibility to care for our protagonists and crew. This panel will talk about training, protocols, and processes implemented during production through distribution of STANDING ABOVE THE CLOUDS and SLUMLORD MILLIONAIRE to promote authentic impact of their films while ensuring the safety of all involved. Directors and A-Doc members Jalena Keane-Lee and Steph Ching will participate in this panel moderated by Michael Kinomoto (ITVS).
