A young Indonesian rapper, James (newcomer Brian Imanuel), is starting to make big waves, now signed to an American label and working on his debut album in the States. However, previously being managed by his own father (played by the fantastic Yayu A.W. Unru), James must face the heavy reality of his expanding dream and the fading relationship he is leaving behind. Justin Chon’s Jamojaya captures a father-son bond being put to the test, confronting dynamics of career, family, and grief while revealing the vulnerabilities of deciding between what we want and what we love.
