Description
After SEOUL SEARCHING, attend the Opening Night Gala at the spectacular Asian Art Mu- seum, located in the heart of San Francisco’s Civic Center district. Partake in savories and sweets created by some of the Bay Area’s finest and most generous restaurants and food purveyors such as Sol Food and Socola Chocolatier. Grab a signature Remy Martin cocktail and get down to beats by local DJs in Samsung Hall.
Explore the intersection of art and desire in the museum’s newest exhibit, Seduction: Japan’s Float- ing World. Seduction reveals the urban pleasures of Edo-period Japan (1615 – 1868) through more than 60 works of art, including paintings, kimonos and an almost 58-foot-long handscroll of the Yoshiwara — Edo’s most celebrated pleasure district. Their concurrent exhibition, The Printer’s Eye: Ukiyo-e from the Grabhorn Collection, delves further into the floating world with a superb assem- blage of Japanese woodblock prints. (Seduction: Japan’s Floating World, February 20–May 10)
