Description
Fred Ho was a figurehead contributing artist in Asian American Jazz. But, if you asked him to label his genre of music, he’d call it “Afro-Asian New American Multicultural Music.” Conscious of both the roots of jazz and his own influences, Fred was a pioneer in his field, creating avant-garde music that spoke to his artistry and activism. That is the legacy he leaves behind.
Making the film’s San Francisco debut just shy of the one-year anniversary of Fred Ho’s passing, FRED HO’S LAST YEAR is a tribute to him and his battle with cancer. Although his life was met with tumult when confronted with the finality of his condition, FRED HO’S LAST YEAR shows how the titular artist became even more driven to combat his disease and share his insights with the world. FRED HO’S LAST YEAR is a warrior’s send-off to visionary artist Fred Ho and a commemoration to his life’s achievements.
