Join us for a festive evening celebrating California food and culture, and storytelling at its finest. Enjoy half-off museum admission, live music, gourmet Off the Grid Food trucks and explore OMCA’s current exhibit, Fertile Ground. End the evening with the world premiere of CAAM-produced documentary CHANGING SEASON: ON THE MASUMOTO FAMILY FARM. Meet Mas, Marcy, Nikiko and Korio Masumoto, celebrated food authors and fourth generation Japanese American organic peach farmers known for their sought-after heirloom Sun Crest peaches and commitment to sustainable farming.

“How many harvests do you have in you?” is the perennial echo heard across the Masumoto Family peach farm. CHANGING SEASON chronicles a transitional year for David “Mas” Masumoto and his daughter, Nikiko, as they lovingly act out the rituals of transitioning the farm into Nikiko's hands.

Man Up
Two young deadbeats are forced to grow up quickly and have their friendship tested when unemployed and unschooled 19-year-old Martin (Kevin Wu) finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. This comedic and eccentric film marks the directorial feature film debut of co-star Justin Chon, who plays Martin’s overeager best friend, Randall.

Lucky Chow
CAAM co-produced PBS series LUCKY CHOW follows LUCKYRICE culinary festival founder Danielle Chang as she travels across America, exploring the Asian food landscape. Featuring many of the country’s most renowned chefs and culinary stars such as TOP CHEF winner Kristen Kish, YouTube sensation Maangchi and Bay Area favorite Ramen Shop.

9-MAN is the story about a gritty Chinese-only street-ball game born in the alleys and parking lots of local 1930s Chinatowns. Director Ursula Liang follows 9-MAN’s rising stars and chronicles the rich history and evolution of the sport as rival teams battle to cement their place in history.
