The 1942 Walt Disney Pictures beloved classic BAMBI is part of CAAMFest’s Special Presentation of Asian Americans in Animation. In a woodland paradise, young Bambi finds friends, family and his destiny to one day become the Great Prince of the Forest and protect all creatures from danger. Tragedy strikes Bambi, throwing him onto an accelerated path of growth and responsibility.
BAMBI owes its visual brilliance to artist and Chinese American animator Tyrus Wong, whose beautiful impressionistic paintings of the forest provided the DNA for the overall look and themes of the film. Wong’s role as art director helped solidify the timeless film’s place in history for generations of fans and inspired artists alike.
