CAAMFest’s music and live performances bring innovative artists from the underground and international music scene to the Bay Area for cutting-edge performances. This year’s lineup includes music-centric films paired with special live performances, discussions with artists and directors, and a comedy showcase.


  1. Anatomy of a Music Video With Ruby Ibarra

    Music & Live Performances
    Pinay Rapper Ruby Ibarra makes her directorial debut showing how she orchestrated an ambitious vision for her music video of “Us,” working through logistical nightmares and corralling a crowdsourced all-Pinay cast of 200 to create a multi-dimensional narrative. This documentary showcases the song’s global tropes of resistance and solidarity, serving as a Pinay anthem for women to continue rising.

  3. Asian Americans in Hip-Hop

    CAAM and the Oakland Museum of California bring together a panel of key hip-hop thought leaders and artists to explore the Asian American community’s deep connection with the genre. This free panel is co-curated by Asian American Music Conference and builds upon the Oakland Museum of California’s RESPECT: HIP-HOP STYLE & WISDOM exhibit.

  5. Directions in Sound: Hip-Hop

    DIRECTIONS IN SOUND, CAAMFest’s premier music showcase, is moving to Oakland! This annual concert is a festival favorite and has been a popular launching point for many celebrated artists, such as Dengue Fever, Awkwafina, DJ Vinroc and many more. This year, CAAM welcomes three bold and dynamic voices in hip-hop: the Bay Area’s own Lyrics Born and Ruby Ibarra will take the stage with rising star G Yamazawa, who comes to CAAMFest from Los Angeles by way of North Carolina. Join us for this powerhouse trio in celebration of the vibrant Asian American music scene.

  6. Disoriented Comedy Show

    Who’s ready to laugh? The DISORIENTED COMEDY team: Jenny Yang, D’Lo, and Atsuko Okatsuka are at CAAMFest and taking over Japantown in a not-to-be missed comedy show. This first-ever (mostly) female, Asian American stand-up comedy troupe has performed more than 70 shows since 2012 and will headline CAAMFest’s Saturday night festivities.
