Description
Ryan is an ambitious Singaporean chef working in Tokyo. When his wife Yuki disappears, he sets off to her hometown in Okinawa searching for clues. Instead, he discovers the art of traditional Okinawan food at her father’s restaurant, while Yuki remains nowhere in sight.
With the help of Yuki’s childhood friend Nami, Ryan decides he must convince Yuki’s father to teach him his secret recipes. Ryan’s Tokyo-style cooking doesn’t mix well with traditional Okinawan techniques, but the father eventually relents, bridging the two cultures and two chefs. After Yuki’s father suddenly falls ill, Ryan will have to decide if he has what it takes to take over the family business and discover if his efforts will win back his long-lost wife.
Written and directed by Singapore duo Jason Chan and Christian Lee, JIMAMI TOFU is a delicious tale of love, food, and a deep connection to place, and like its namesake dish, will leave a smooth and rich taste on your palette.
