When Maria (Pei-Pei Cheng) finds out her husband Bing (Tzi Ma) has been having an affair, she breaks out of her shell, making friends with the local park ladies and silent disco dancing on the grass. In the process of investigating her husband, Maria’s daughter, played by Sandra Oh, encourages and supports her mother as an independent woman, even teaching her how to ride a bike. While Bing paradoxically wants to save face in all parts of his life, Maria struts with motivation and confidence while learning to liberate herself from obeying all his needs and making bank by selling illegal parking with her friends.

MEDITATION PARK is a light-hearted film filled with self-love and liberation. With an all-star cast, including CAAMFest 2018 Spotlight Honoree Cheng, director Mina Shum turns an intergenerational immigrant story into a charming and humorous feature.
