Directed by Avid Liongoren
Hopelessly in love with his spunky best friend Sally (Rhian Ramos), Marty (Enzo Marcos) can only fantasize about saving her from the monsters who are her uptight parents and her tool of a boyfriend. Expressing his feelings through his comics and drawings, Marty’s talented efforts almost get the best of him as he escapes to a playful world of gadgetry, secret crushes and teenage romance. In sweeping artistic imagination, SAVING SALLY also touches upon issues of physical abuse, treating its weight with perceptive sensitivity via magical and surrealistic storytelling. Through it all, Marty’s pure and utter devotion to support Sally makes for a sweet journey of friendship with loyalty, compassion and resilience.
Director Avid Liongoren and his creative crew animate Manila into a geeky and delightful backdrop of a love story for the teenage soul. Having garnered several awards at film festivals in the Philippines and in the U.S., SAVING SALLY gleams with enchanting and cosmic wonder.
