Join us as we sit down with CAAMFest 2021 Spotlight honoree, Margaret Cho and talk about her successful career. This free, live virtual program will also include a screening of KOREATOWN GHOST STORY, which Cho produced and stars in. Filmmakers Minsun Park & Teddy Tenenbaum will also join the conversation and Bitch Talk Podcast will be moderating.

About Margaret Cho: Margaret Cho is a cultural icon and her impact in the media landscape is legendary. She’s a comedian, actor, musician, advocate, entrepreneur and artist.  Margaret was born and raised in San Francisco, an experience that she can say with all sincerity helped to shape her world-view. “There were old hippies, ex-druggies, burnouts, drag queens, and Chinese people. It was a really confusing, enlightening, wonderful time.” Her groundbreaking, controversial ABC sitcom, All-American Girl (1994) soon followed. Oddly, while ABC courted her because she was a non-conformist Korean American woman with liberal views, the powers-that-be decided Margaret should “tone it down” for the show. Although she was an Executive Producer, this would be a battle she could not win. After the show, Margaret produce many live concert specials including I’M THE ONE THAT I WANT, NOTORIOUS C.H.O. and REVOLUTION.

About KOREATOWN GHOST STORY: In this supernatural horror tale based on a Korean ritual starring legendary Margaret Cho and Lyrica Okano, a woman entertains a macabre offer that would let her pursue her dreams, for better or for much much worse. Produced and deliciously-acted by Cho, this terrifying film that shouldn’t be watched alone.

About Bitch Talk: Bitch Talk is a podcast that boldly and unapologetically highlights the ongoing need for BIPOC women representation in media, film, and the arts. The show features thoughtful and fun interviews of marginalized and indie voices working as performers, comedians, independent filmmakers, and activists. Bitch Talk co-hosts Erin Lim and Ange Tabora engage the audience through witty banter and unfiltered honesty. Founded by Erin Lim in 2013, the show has grown from dining room table recordings to partnerships with Reimagine End of Life, That’s What She Said, and the San Francisco Women’s March, as well as participation at the Sundance Film Festival. About Erin Lim: Erin Lim is the founder, host, and producer of the Bitch Talk Podcast. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Erin has lived in San Francisco for 16 years and has worked in the film, sports, hospitality, television, radio, and communication industries. Currently, Erin works as a marketing professional at a major arts institution in Oakland.

About Angela Tabora: Angela Tabora is the co-host of the Bitch Talk Podcast and has worked in post-production for several production companies in the Bay Area. Most recently, she managed political campaigns in Oakland and San Francisco. She is a documentary filmmaker and a world traveler.
