STAND UP

Directed by Dasha Masaltina, Kitty Hu

When a genuine friendship develops between two Black women a generation apart, comedic chaos ensues as they encounter a number of interesting individuals at a bar. This touching and hilarious short celebrates diverse communities and a world where we can live vibrant lives together.

THIS FILM IS AVAILABLE ON DEMAND.

Filmmaker statement: A little over 2 years ago, I (Kitty) met Tatiana and Diana, two incredible actresses who were also outspoken advocates for authentic disability inclusion in Hollywood. Along with Dasha, my co-conspirator, we created a silly (read: cheesy) short together that sought to bring people of all backgrounds together and just have a good time. We did this with an all-female crew and environmentally-friendly set, and to this day, it’s still the most fun set we’ve been on. We always can do more for disability justice and inclusion; this is merely our start. We hope to see more films made by and for disabled folks. As allies, we will continue learning from disabled communities and know when to uplift, step back, and walk alongside our disabled friends and creators.
