In every relationship, there are two storytellers. In this film, one happens to be an awarded filmmaker facing the most challenging piece of her decades long career, the other one is a narrator beholden to only the hyper present with an authentic reverence for fleeting minutiae. Both meet in this cinematic tribute of the realest kind of love between mother and daughter in a time of their lives when parent vs. parenting is situational, time collapses around them, and past-present-future is braided by the hands of dementia. When memories are lost, a new nonlinear POV is found, and where a pure joy emerges- not just for them, but for all of us holding their intimate story at the center.
This San Francisco premiere of WISDOM GONE WILD is part of our Retrospective Spotlight on Rea Tajiri. Catch screenings of her other films STRAWBERRY FIELDS and HISTORY AND MEMORY.
Filmmaker Rea Tajiri and Associate Producer Reiko Tahara expected to attend for a post-screening Q&A.
