During the 2024 U.S. presidential election, hundreds of thousands of voters cast “uncommitted” ballots to send a clear message to President Biden: demand a ceasefire in Gaza, an arms embargo on Israel, and greater accountability from Democratic leadership. What began as a grassroots effort in Michigan quickly grew into a national movement, mobilizing communities across the country and reshaping conversations around political power and representation far beyond the election cycle.
Uncommitted follows Arab and Muslim grassroots organizers and their elected allies as they build the Uncommitted National Movement from the ground up. Directed by longtime journalist and filmmaker Razi Jafri, the film uses intimate vérité footage and personal interviews to capture the movement’s rise, the backlash it faced, and the broader stakes of collective political action in America today.
A post-screening Q&A will feature director Razi Jafri and executive producer W. Kamau Bell, joined by select participants from the film for a timely and thought-provoking conversation.
This film is supported by CAAM’s Building Bridges Documentary Fund.
