Description
Naive teenage boy Ming carelessly flirts with his love for childhood friend Mei Ann, who speculates a newly constructed plant is the reason for her father’s faltering fish business. His indifference toward what is going on around him comes to light through his classmate Hui Ling (Daphne Low) and idealistic activist teacher Ms. Lim (Zhu Zhi-Ying). Shifting from a tale of young love to a darker more violent picture, these young women must decide how to deal with the repercussions of political activism through separate veins.
In a country where censorship is well-known, director Edmund Yeo explores the trials and tribulations of young Malaysians caught in the tides of political activism. Loosely based on the true story of a Malaysian seaside town’s protest against a potentially radioactive plant, Yeo focuses his story on the bond between people and place.
