Description
Knowing our history and cultural heritage in this day and age still matters, especially
when many are forced to discover their identities through deadly illnesses. Finding a bone marrow donor match is seemingly impossible for individuals with unique multiracial heritage in the eye opening documentary, MIXED MATCH. Even though the study of medicine has made incredible strides within the past few decades, the patients in the film discover that for a number of reasons, it’s tremendously difficult for those of multi-racial backgrounds to find a match. Despite the odds being against them, they take action into finding solutions and a match that can potentially save their lives.
Emmy nominated and Webby award winning animation and documentary filmmaker, Jeff Chiba Stearns, captures the film subjects through their unique medical journeys as they explore the role that mixed ancestry plays in medical care.
