Join director Debbie Lum and other media makers in an extended conversation about “yellow fever” and other topics in Seeking Asian Female. Moderated by Nicole Wong of Hyphen, this panel features Phil Yu of Angry Asian Man and filmmaker Hoang Nguyen.

CAAM is thrilled to present the 2013 Ready, Set, Pitch! At last year’s live fundraising pitch, four out of five projects reached their crowd-funding goals and raised more than $80,000!

American Narrative: The Muslim Protagonist
Attendees of the screening of “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” are invited to join this conversation on issues affecting American Muslims, and by extension many religious groups and communities of color. This discussion will bring together key speakers along with community members to address vital social and political issues, including the disturbing acts of violence against Muslim and Sikh communities, the representation of Muslims in national media, and the rise of Muslim artists, performers and thought leaders. Admission is free with a film screening receipt/ticket stub from “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.”

Marilou Diaz-Abaya: Filmmaker on a Voyage
This meticulous, moving documentary profiles the great director Marilou Diaz-Abaya, one of the Philippines’ most passionate and influential filmmakers, producers and teachers. Made just before her death in 2012, it pays tribute to her talent, her films and her well-lived life. The March 15, 2:30pm screening at Sundance Kabuki is free.
