Directed by Derek Tsang

Cast: Huang Jue, Yin Fang, Zhou Dongyu, Zhou Ye

Nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2021 Academy Awards, BETTER DAYS is a knock-out film by filmmaker Derek Tsang. The film explores a high school in Hong Kong and a trouble incident that occurs. As the police investigates, we learn more what happens through a fascinating group of characters. This includes Chen Nian (Zhou Dongyu), a young English teacher is trying to educate and inspire her students and Chen Nian, who is among her best students in class, but is also being bullied at school.

BETTER DAYS include some award-winning acting from the entire ensemble cast and masterful direction. In a wonderful review by Variety, “Perhaps we can hope that for similarly sensitive, stylish and affecting explorations of contemporary Chinese society, the happy end that Tsang’s highly deserving film enjoyed, does indeed signal better days to come.” It’s no wonder this film has been a box office hit overseas.
