20 years ago, when THE DEBUT premiered at CAAMFest (formerly known as San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival) it was clear it was an important milestone for Asian American cinema. One of the first feature films made by and for the Filipino American community, it created a blueprint for future productions and continues to inspire new generations of storytellers.
Dante Basco (CAAMFest 2021 Spotlight Honoree) shines as Ben Mercado, a talented high school senior who has dreams of becoming an artist.
