CAAMFest is elated to kick off our 2021 festival with TRY HARDER!, a skillfully crafted documentary by local filmmaker and CAAMFest alum, Debbie Lum (SEEKING ASIAN FEMALE). There will be three opportunities to see this powerful documentary, starting with two screenings on Opening Night (May 13) at Fort Mason Flix and an encore virtually screening on May 23.

TRY HARDER!, a Sundance 2021 selection spotlights SF’s Lowell High School and a group of seniors during their last year in high school, applying for their choice of colleges. What seems like an exciting stage in their lives at first, quickly reveals itself to be an emotional rollercoaster.

Through some excellent storytelling and the intention to honestly representing the students’ experiences, TRY HARDER! is a dynamic and forceful documentary that is sure to charm audiences.

THE VIRTUAL SCREENING (MAY 23) IS LIMITED TO CALIFORNIA AUDIENCES.
