On day 2 of CAAMFest FORWARD, we continue our Drive-In Experiences at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (2 Marina Boulevard San Francisco, CA 94123) with a celebration of Hong Kong Cinema. As part of the evening, we are thrilled to celebrate A SIMPLE LIFE. On the cusp of its 10th anniversary, A SIMPLE LIFE is directed by award-winning auteur Ann Hui. This 2011 Hong Kong drama stars two stars, Andy Lau and Deanie Ip in performances that won them both awards. Although Deanie Ip had publicly retired when this film was released, the overwhelming praise of her performance restarted her career.

In the movie, a film producer (Andy Lau) helps care for his family’s lifelong servant (Deanie Ip) after she suffers a stroke and must move into a nursing home. This tender and emotional film continues to be a fan favorite and we’re thrilled to showcase it in two ways at CAAMFest FORWARD: at the drive-in experience and on CAAMFest On-Demand.
