Anchored from the perspective of a Desi* woman living in the United States, Magical Messages: We Were Made For These Times reclaims South Asian traditions of yoga, Buddhism and earth based mysticism for a poetic and intersectional feminist meditation on wisdom, women of color solidarity and leadership. Magical Messages positions women of color as forebears of social transformation and drivers of cultural resistance dismantling toxic patriarchy and white supremacy. Tactile and dreamlike, this experimental documentary uses poetic vignettes, sensory images and soundscapes to explore collective healing, decolonization, and spiritual journeys of reclaiming, refuge and remembering that we were made for these times.
